About MeWho is Heidi Kaether? |
| Several years ago a friend asked me, if I could do anything with my life, what would it be? After thinking for a moment I said something like, I would like to travel to other countries and experience their cultures and learn about their music - their tonal structures and ethnic instruments. I would like to get to know the people, and at least some of their language, and through it all, I would have opportunities to just talk to people about Jesus and his love for them in an organic way. I also knew that in some way I felt called to be a healer of hearts. So much pain and trauma exists in this world, every single person is affected by it, and my heart breaks to make a difference. Little did I know at the time, that dream had a name - Artist Missionary. |
| I found out about a wonderful missions organization that has the arts at
its center, worship as its expression and healing as its heartbeat. It is called United Adoration. UA is an ecumenical
movement who works with churches across many denominations. They embrace a solid biblical statement of faith and they
partner with local churches all over the world to gather and inspire people to welcome the Holy Spirit into their
creative process, to create in their own language, culture, and context, and to process life, finding healing in
community with God and others!
|
| At the same time, I was starting a two year program of classes in theology, ministry, soul care, homiletics, and hermeneutics called Prepared. One of our first big assignments was to create a ministry plan. That was the beginning of I.D.E.A.S. We are working to build a local creative community of believers in the Wisconsin Dells area. We are slowly growing in size. Our goal is to not only create a safe space, but to BE a safe space for people made in the Image of God (EVERYONE) to process life through the universal language of the arts. This has been a sweet journey and our fledgling group has been finding joy in our times of creativity together. Partnering with United Adoration helps to further these goals by providing a world wide network of Christian creatives working together for this same purpose, resources for our gatherings, training for leaders, and an established advertising framework. I have already been trained as a Retreat Leader through United Adoration and am now in the process of moving into the role of Artist Missionary. This will allow me not only to continue growing our local arts group, but to travel and lead retreats around the world. |
| So, other than the leader of the I.D.E.A.S. ministry, who am I? I am a musician. I started violin at the age of 3, piano at 8, trombone at 10, and then continued to pick up every instrument I could get my hands on. I love using my music to worship the Lord. I help lead worship about twice a month at our church, Bridgepoint Mission Center in Wisconsin Dells. I am also a songwriter. I have been blessed to be a part of an international songwriting group that challenges us to write a new song each month. Not all of these make it to the youtube channel, but even so, they're good practice. The friendships I've gained through that group are some of the greatest joys in my life.

I am a wife and mom. I've been married to my friend-since-kindergarten for over 35 years
now and we are blessed to have 10 children here on earth (5 boys and 5 girls), 4 children waiting for us in heaven, and
7 grandchildren so far. We homeschooled (and are still homeschooling the youngest two) all the way through. I love seeing
each of our children learn and grow and discover who they were made to be. It is such an
amazing thing to be friends with your own children as adults!

I am an artist. From watercolors and acrylics, to colored pencil, ink, pastels,
resin, collage / scrapbooking, jewelry making, needle felting, sewing, pottery, leather tooling -
If it's creative, I'm excited to try it. I love using art in my quiet time with the Lord.

I am an author. My mom wrote stories when I was growing up and she was always my
inspiration that *anyone* can write. I have a series of children's picture books starring a teddy bear who
lives at our house and learns all kinds of new things. These can come with activity kits so that the children reading the
books can learn along with the bear. I am working on a novel as well as a devotional, both of which I plan to
self publish under my pen name, Haven Ashborn. And I have recently submitted two short stories to hopefully be included
in anthologies. I hope to hear back soon.
|
| Most of all, my identity comes from God. I am His, I am loved, cleansed, made righteous,
He made me to be his beautiful, creative healer to the nations. And he has made me an Ashborn Haven - a safe place born from
the ashes. That's who I am. . If you have any questions feel free to write to me at [email protected] |
